Celebrity Style: Uee at the 48th Baeksang Arts Awards

On April 26 in Seoul, the 48th Baeksang Arts Awards were held to honor outstanding performances from the past year in both Film and Television categories; much like the Golden Globes in the United States, an award show like this brings many stars together in one place. As with all awards shows, Kfashionista’s favorite part is before the show–on the red carpet–where the winners and losers are judged on their talents in dressing to impress.
One of this year’s attendees has consistently made a splash with both her acting and red carpet presence is After School’s Uee. The singer-turned-actress won over audiences with her portrayal of Baek Ja Eun in the weekend drama Ojakkyo Brothers. Uee had already won the “Best Rookie Actress” award for this role at the year-end KBS Drama Awards, but now she can add the “Best New Actress” award from the Baeksangs to her list of achievements. Since these awards include multiple networks, it is held in higher regard to her previous award, proving that the idol is also a legitimate actress.
Her gorgeous red carpet look is courtesy of the Fall 2011 Dior Collection, the sumptuous final line for the fashion house from disgraced designer John Galliano. The embroidered bodice with pearl beading gives way to layer after layer of pleated ruffles. The skirt starts as a soft pink and gradually fades to pale blue. She accessorized her look with a Dior clutch, strappy heels and a variety of pastel jewelry that complimented the dress well. Her side-swept fishtail braid keeps the look youthful and refreshing.

Celebrity Style: After School Nana’s Sunny Shopping Look

This event took place in Seoul’s popular shopping district, Myeongdong. A mini-fashion show was part of the experience, and the girls modeled the latest handbags from the Japanese accessories brand. Attendees even got a special performance of the groups latest Japanese single “Lady Luck.” After School has been featured in a series of Samantha Thavasa ads in the past, and even incorporate the brand’s handbags in the dance for this new song.
During the shop appearance, Nana was radiant in a sunshine-hued ensemble. Her sleeveless silk dress ($915) in nude and yellow features a pleated skirt with a zigzag hem, it is from the 2012 Spring/Summer collection from Jill Stuart. The ladies of After School modeled items from this same line in an issue of SWAK Magazine earlier this year that featured Nana on the cover. She paired the dress with a pair of perfectly matched sandals from Korean designer Jinny Kim; the “Lorraine” heels ($227) follows the same color scheme. The pale yellow Samantha Thavasa bag ($360) she’s holding is a ruffle tote with ribbon and buckle accents.

Celebrity Style: After School’s Jooyeon in Joyrich

after school jooyeon kmw 2012 kpop fashionK-pop girl group After School was one of many performers in Thailand recently for the 2012 MBC Korean Music Wave in Bangkok. Opening the show to the teasing strains of Orange Caramel‘s “Bangkok City,” they instead did a little shuffle dancing before performing a string of hits including “Diva,” “Shampoo” and “Because of You.”
Their funky, colorful stage clothes were reminiscent of their debut days, and founding member Jooyeon was no exception. She sported a dolman-style Star Brigade jacket from Joyrich ($186) paired with denimCash Flow shorts from the same brand ($230). The shorts are embellished with dollar signs on the front and back, and feature extra-long pockets with stars and stripes that match up well with the motif of her jacket. She also wore a pair of Puma RS100 speckle sneakers ($83) in white-gray with florescent accents including the orange soles, yellow laces and aqua piping.
After School is currently preparing for their 3-city tour Japanese concert tour to take place at the end of April. Their next K-pop comeback is schedule for June 21.
