Big Bang’s Seungri Gets Own Special Program and MC Role on Japan TV
In just one month since he started off on his solo activities in Japan, Seungri was given his own TV show on Space Shower TV, V.I from Big Bang, and an MC role in Fuji TV’s Sakigake! Ongaku Banzuke Eight.
After wrapping up Big Bang’s Japan tour in June, Seungri has remained in Japan for his own promotions in the country.
V.I from Big Bang, which aired its first episode on August 2, is, as is implied by the title, Seungri’s first ever regular program.
It will show how Seungri goes about in preparations to build his program, and the official title of the broadcast once it launches will be picked out of entries from fans.
Fuji TV’s Sakigake! Ongaku Banzuke Eight is a music variety program popular in Japan. Seungri previously hosted the show, drawing attention by fluently interviewing actor Shun Oguri, EXILE’s Akira and Emi Takei himself.
After Seungri successfully managed to get through his interviews, the program decided to set Seungri as the special MC for the program.
A rep from Seungri’s agency YG Entertainment told enews on August 3, “Local broadcasting officials are thinking highly of Seungri after watching him work hard with enthusiasm. He’s also studying Japanese diligently, even leaving diary entries every day on Big Bang’s mobile fanclub BIGBANG☆WORLD. He has thus become more fluent in Japanese and has become able to take on a steady MC role.”
Seungri also previously gathered attention for his appearance on Yomiuri TV’s variety program Yoshimoto Passion Comedy, a program loved even in the Kansai region known for being strict on humor. He danced to Big Bang’s Fantastic Baby with popular comedians in the region, and tried his hand at telling Kansai regional jokes.
It’s only been one month since he started promoting, but Seungri still has much to boast as he’s managed to receive many love calls from local broadcasts.
At the same time as his Japanese promotions, Seungri also plans to join his team in Big Bang’s Galaxy Tour Alive 2012 and tour the world.
