Krystal the “California Gurl”
This past weekend SM Entertainment artists took over Anaheim, CA for the SMTOWN Live World Tour III (2012), which was held at the Honda Center. The last time this K-pop event came through Southern California was in 2010 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and this time around they certainly raised the entertainment level with new lighting effects, water fountains and even a stage that at times elevated acts high above the crowd.
One of the best parts of concerts like this is collaboration stages between your favorite K-pop stars, and SM definitely did not disappoint at this show. It is always fun to see sisters SNSD‘s Jessicaand Krystal of f(x) get the opportunity to perform together and sing in English. In 2010 they dueted on Ke$ha‘s hit “Tik Tok” and this time around they sang Katy Perry‘s “California Gurls,” which is especially fitting for the siblings who are natives of San Francisco.
Much like the candy-inspired fashion of Perry’s original music video, the Jung sisters wore cotton candy pastels embellished with sweet treats ans sparkling sequins; Krystal in particular is wearing a few items Korean label Fleamadonna. Over a jeweled crop top, the younger sister sports a Love Biker Jacket ($332). Her baby blue skirt with giant pearl buttons down the front is the Love Shirt Skirt ($212), which features a belt that resembles shirt sleeves. The ice cream cones and other sweets were custom additions to fit the theme, as were the glittery and tulle underskirts. Both items are from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection for the brand.
Later, during a collaboration stage for “Oops” with f(x) and Super Junior, Krystal wore the same jacket paired with the Joyrich x Giza multi-geometric chain skirt ($207) previously seen on labelmate Seohyun for TaeTiSeo‘s “Twinkle” promotions.
